#OeComment – Defence spending by NATO, the European Union and Hungary

 

In 2022, the European Union’s defence spending reached a new record, but the EU still falls short of the 2% defence budget target set by NATO and the military spending of global powers. Hungary, however, plays a prominent role in the region, as the development of its defence industry not only strengthens the security of our country, but also offers long-term export opportunities in the coming decades, which could make Hungary a major military industrial player in Europe.
